Cannot use keyboard with date picker on k2 five form

You should be able to use the keyboard, including tab, with the date picker control on a k2 five form. I suspect that not being unable to use the keyboard is a contravention of accessibility guidelines? We have already had complaints from a client and the usability of this control is now in stark contrast to any other date picker control that I have ever encountered. Interested to hear about why this approach has been chosen? Thanks
